It doesn't look like it is really a permission problem as the user can write in /tmp/ and when pausing in the caa_download routine I can see that matlab created a folder /tmp/.
In caa_download/ get_zip_ file (line 650) > In extractArchiveE extractArchiveE ntry (line 100) Warning: Permission denied to create file Speed up read operations by setting the 'ConvertEpochToDatenum' name-value pair argument to true, to return CDF epoch values as MATLAB serial date numbers. By default, cdfread creates a MATLAB cdfepoch object for each CDF epoch value in the file. The CAA folder created whilst download Cluster cdf data files is empty.
